BOTWCC 1st XI v Walton le Wolds
Saturday 5th August 2006 - Towles Fields
Skipper Brian Fisher won the toss and put Walton in to bat who went on to get 167 all out.
Jeff Aylett bowled really good spell, particularly in his first spell, to take 5-41 in 14.4 overs taking the first 3 wickets to fall. Rob Dunn was the other notable bowler with 2-35 off his 14 overs.
Brig Gohil top scored for Walton, batting at no.7 getting an excellent 48, part of an 8th wicket partnership that put on 53 runs. This was all they had with only a young lad to come next (they only had 10 men).
However, in some ways the star of the first innings was 71 year old Barry Moore, who took to two excellent catches: the first one was one-handed above his head and the second one off his boot straps...shows he can still stretch both ways!!! (The 70-odd year old putting you kiddies to shame).
In the second innings, Burton were wobbling a bit at 66-3 with both Gary Moore and Ross Deabil (who was looking in excellent form) back in the Pavilion. However, a fine unbeaten 4th wicket partnership of 105 saw Burton home by 7 wickets and 6 overs to spare.
Rob Dunn was 64 no and Mark Dipple 45 no...this was Mark's highest score for the 1st team and Rob's first 50 for Burton since arriving at the club a few weeks ago.
For Walton, Mat Jones bowled well, with 3-33 from 13 overs.
