Burbage v BOTWCC 2nd XI
Saturday 12th May 2007
Since I'm currently also writing this weeks report (technically next weeks but I'm a bit late due to a lack of information) I'll just outline the shambolic effort of this week.
Skipper Rob won the toss again and all was well from the start.
Penton and Morley took the new ball and steadied the ship nicely and wickets fell with a steady rhythm. It looked like the usual kind of match at Burbage where the hot headed youth generally threw their wickets away with a succession of poorly considered shots.
Waffle aside, Burton bowled them all out for 134 with good bowling performances throughout with the pick of the bowler being Penton with his 11 overs, 5 for 31 and Steve Layzell ending on 12 overs 4 for 26. Other bowlers were Morley (12-2-23-1), John Shipman (3-0-25-0) and Tom Shipman (5-0-28-0).
Come the second innings, well, what can i say here. Truthfully, i'm not sure there is anything to be said other that the runs chase wasn't a particularly pretty one.
Mark Russell top scored on 16, Steve Neal got 13 and the rest of the team fell for either zero or close to it.
Burton Two's were all out for a depressing 60 runs and a resounding loss was eternally marked on the scorebook.
Not a pretty site. So lets say no more about it.
Lets hope we don't do the same thing next week (ahem).
