BOTWCC XI v Hathern

Thursday 3rd July 2008

Where to start, cracking game -

Captain turned up late
Smithy got took off after one over
Nealy hit a six
Nealy gets run out
Nealy pulls another muscle
Nealy goes home without paying subs
24 on debut for Ryan Walker
Lanky bowls worst hatrick ball ever seen

So despite living only five minutes from the ground I managed to turn up late and was promptly dropped down to number 10 in the order. Smithy managed to win the toss and decided we would bat first.

Nealy and Simmo kicked off, but it wasn't long before Goose was preparing to pack the kit. This despite our very own 'Top Gun Reject' posting a season best for the second week running, 3 this time, keep going Goose you'll get double figures by October at this rate.

Ali came in and spanked the ball around reaching 24, again. Nealy had reached 29 before he ran himself out and then collapsed to the ground. Ali followed next ball and even at no 10 I was looking forward to a bat.

Flash and new boy Ryan Walker then batted through till the end. On debut Ryan didn't appear to keen at going in as high as five but grew in confidence recording a fine 24NO, including the 'shot of the day with a splendid four through cover. Flash posted 37 before being bowled on the last ball of our innings.

13 over of the innings saw Flash plunder 19 runs off Hathern's Aussie import.

Had his bat, Nealy was unable to come out and field Tom Ship filling in was a bonus.

Ali donned the keepers gloves, yep better than Simmo, but not quite up to my standard yet ? guys what do you reckon ?

And so to Lanky, four slips, two gullys, silly mid off, silly mid on. On a Hat-Trick first ball of the innings, bowls an enormous wide down the leg, well stopped Ali.

Smithy came on at the other end and was spanked for 17, according to the scorebook.

Treacle replaced Smithy and took two wickets in his first over, then Sam Ship came on, Treacle went to the other end, fielders were going all over the place.

Wickets continued to fall, Treacle took 4-26, including the Aussie with a shoooooooter, Sam 3-35.

Two overs to go, about 25 needed, Smithy came back and bowled his 8 balls for just two singles and put a couple of bruises on Dave Insley, more than made up for the first 8 slings. Last over 9 men on the boundary, Lanky finished things off.

BOTW won by 6 runs, off the the 3 Crowns for beer and food.

Three wins on the bounce.
