BOTWCC 2nd XI v The Waltons
Saturday 3rd May 2008
MATCH WON
Another campaign gets under way welcoming the relegated team of Walton to Burton.
The weather set fair and the toss takes place with Walton winning and electing to bowl on a slow but true wicket.
Ali love and Mark Russell get proceedings under way with Ali scoring 15 runs of the first over
This included a six into the tennis court.
Love looked in good touch scoring freely to a rapid 25 but got a leading edge to the only Walton fielder that could catch; they spilled 5 catches throughout the game.
In comes sunny Warne who soon gets into the Walton bowling scoring freely he races to 61 before being caught in the deep a good seasonal debut.
All the time while the youngsters are scoring freely veteran Russell mike tagg 2 was accumulating 48 runs playing the anchor roll he eventually went for 48 some say he was counting his runs??
Three more youngsters came and went Ed getting 2 runs and Lanky getting 12 which was better than his first ball duck from last sun, Chris listen to pa move that back foot!!Last of the young guns Ryan Walker scoring 4 down to 2 more veterans to see out the innings Steve Neal and skipper Rob Morley
Neal bludgeoned away at the waltonians finishing on 29 no and the skipper 6 no ending the Burton innings total of 211 for 6.
Now it’s time for the Walton’s to bat opening the bowling was a very promising lad Chris langham who with the new ball swung it a yard at pace, the Walton batters were soon in trouble and the opener was bowled for a duck.
At the other end the skipper Morley was doing the same but at a much tamer pace all though very
Effective.
Langham ends his 6 over spell with 1-12 a good seasonal debut.
Replaced by shippo senior who bowls 2 over’s and 2 maidens, morley at the other end is working his way through the Walton top order and finishes his spell of 9 over’s 5-20.
Senior shippo is taken out of the attack as not to send Burton players to sleep on comes his son Sam whose bowling as much improved and he’s soon drifting to ball and getting some good turn foxing the Walton batters.
Replacing Morley is Adam archer who is doing a similar task at the other end but probably hypnotised them with his unique bowling action the two spinners soon finish of the waltonians shipman bowling 5 over’s 2-17 and archer 3.3 over’s 2-9 putting an end to the Walton innings 62 all out.
There was a great energy in the field from the new youthful look of the Burton seconds and a promising start for things to come well done boys let’s keep raising the bar.
