THE 2009 PRESENTATION EVENING

Burton Village Hall , October 2009

It was back to the Burton Village Hall again this year for the club's annual trophy extravaganza. Once again, there was music and laughter and ale flowed freely (for those who won the music quiz that is, well done there to Goose, Grunter, Freestyler, Fish and Dibs).

As usual, the food was great and this year we didn't have to reach for the Rennie after one of Smithy's microwave meals nukes the crap out of your digestive system. Instead, Geraldine and Graham Pratt provided excellent fair in the form of a lovely cottage pie with beans, followed by a fruit pudding that 2 people ate and Lee's flapjacks, which must be said, are frikkin wonderful. Straight on the hips though, I'm sure.

The presentations went well (see below) and the quiz was a giggle as always. Special thanks go to Statto for his skills as newly elected club compere. If not for his taste in music.

Once again, the photos of the winners are shown below and there are captions underneath each photo but some might have another comment available if you hover your mouse over the image. (Apologies in advance for those).

You can laugh Fish, but hair's hair and some people do have it!

Rich Langham and his 2nd XI Best Performance Award for his 5'fer against Braunstone

He can now lean freakishly far forward without falling over. You've just gotta see it!

And he wears very silly shoes indeed

They thought it was a good catch, I was just trying to get out of the way of rather fiesty a wasp.

Chris Langham 'special' award for a Champaign Moment in the Thursday Night League

Smithy upright. Not so just 1 hour later

Lee Smith wins the Thursday Night Bowling Award

I'm not standing up, I've had 4 cans of Strongbow. Still, I've got something to puke into now.

Sam Shipman and the Thursday Night Batting Award

Yeah, I'm happy. Whatever.

James Headley takes the Thursday 6 Hitting Gong

The smilier Headly chortles to himself knowling that his nits are now in Dad's barnet

Dan Headley wins the 2nd XI Young Player Award

His trophies are actually 15 yeards behind him. It's just trick photography to help him fit in.

Outgoing Skipper Rob Dunn wins 1st XI Bowling, Batting and Players Player

Flash rehearses his 'Why didn't I win anything?' speech

Grant Penton claimed 2nd XI Bowling and Players Player Awards

I'm a lumberjack and I'm okay.... etc

Ed E.Stewart is the BoTWCC Clubman of the Year 2009

The Strongbow's domination of the Carling continued.

Steve Neal enjoying his 2nd XI Batting Award

The bottle enjoyed its Golden Goose moment, having just regurgitated its first £1 coin

A random whiskey bottle? Hell no. Chuck a quid at it and the one who's closest wins it. So who got it this close in a team of apparent cricketers?

Steve, I'm telling you now, just get your fekking hands off my pop!
That's right. A flipping 7 year old. Still, get 'em started young. Well done Cameron. I'll have mine with soda.

! ! Have a great Christmas and see you all next year ! !
